Organising A Display

Do I need to notify the police or local authorities?

Not normally for a smaller firework displays but we think it is a good idea to let them and your neighbours know in advance to avoid any unexpected disturbance.

For public displays we would suggest you contact your local authority and they will advise you.

Do I need a licence or special permission to have a firework display?

No.  There are no restrictions other than any that are imposed by your venue.

You must however have permission from the landowner.

How long should my firework display last?

The duration and budget for your display are intrinsically linked.  In our opinion longer does not always mean better.

A wedding firework display would normally last between 6 and 15 minutes.

For a public or corporate display we would recommend the display duration to be between 18 and 22 minutes.  This duration is proven to keep the attention of the audience throughout the entire display by delivering a high impact, non stop barrage of colour and sound.

Most of the worlds largest firework displays such as London’s New Year Celebrations only last 11-12 minutes!

How much do fireworks cost?

The cost of a professional firework display can vary enormously depending on the intensity, size and number of fireworks fired and the duration of the display.

A high quality wedding firework display would normally cost about £800 for 6-8 minutes duration and typically £100 for every extra minute after that.  Once the budget exceeds £1,500 then you could consider the option of having your display choreographed to music.

As a guide an organisation such as a Round Table or Parish Council typically spends between £3,000 to £6,000 for a 15 to 20 minute pyromusical.

Major Guy Fawkes displays as seen in many cities accross the UK over November would typically cost between £10,000 and £16,000 and often have audiences in excess of 20,000.

Larger displays seen in such places as Battersea Park, Edinburgh Castle and the London Eye can range from between £30,000 to £200,000.

The record for the most expensive firework display is held by Kuwait for the 50th anniversary of the ratification of Kuwait’s Constitution in November 2012.  The display cost a reported £10,000,000 !

The Guinness World Record for the largest firework display was achieved by The Church of Christ in Manilla in the Philippines at the countdown to the 2016 New Year Celebrations.  Although the cost of the display is unreported.
