The requirements will vary considerably depending on the display location or venue, the number of spectators expected and the type of occasion. For example, your display could be held at a hotel or conference venue or even on your own premises for a small invited audience, or, a public display attracting an audience of thousands.
Whichever type of display yours is to be, there are requirements common to all.
Is there enough space?
There should be adequate space to carry out the display safely. The firing area should be adequately distanced from people, buildings, vehicles etc. to allow for the inevitable debris fall-out. This is normally referred to as the exclusion zone.
Staying safe
Provision should be made to ensure that members of the public or your audience do not breach this exclusion zone. Requirements to do this will vary considerably. At hotels and most other private venues the audience is controlled and little is needed in the way of barriers and stewards. Where on the other hand, large public displays will require barriers, stewards, first aid facilities etc. etc.
Choosing the right company
You should ensure that you choose a reputable, experienced company with adequate public liability insurance cover and who are prepared to visit the site in advance of the display, offer you free advice on safety matters and prepare a detailed risk assessment.
At Reaction Fireworks we meet all of the above and we go that extra mile to ensure that your display is safe as well as memorable.
